see the way he holds my heart?

So Ananias went and found Saul. He laid his hands on him and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Instantly something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized.
Acrs 9:18-19

Saul- the biggest “BA” of the land- saved. Can you believe it? It’s hard to believe. Many didn’t think it was true. We need to remember that God is a powerful god.  He can do anything. He created Saul a new person and helped Saul preach bodly.  Remember: With just one word from your mouth were the heavens made, with just one breath from your lips the foundations were laid, with just one dream in your heart you have wanted me, with just one pulse of your heart you are wooing me.

See the way he holds the stars in his hands? See the way he holds my heart?

God is a lover looking for a lover! So he fashions me… so he forms my heart. With just one pulse of your heart, I’m in love.

That’s a Misty Edwards song “See the Way” that really just seems like Saul’s prayer.  It’s my prayer right now.  A weary heart needs to hear this.  God you form our hearts with just one pulse. My heart is yours!  It yearns for you!

Verse 28 exclaims, Saul began preaching boldly in the name of the Lord.

IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, MY HEART IS YOURS!  Do what you will with my heart… prepare my life for what you are about to do!  Prepare others for what you are about to do in my life!  I’m in love again.

you can’t stop us.

Posting in retrospect.

Boldness.  Willing to risk rejection.  Fearless. Daring.
All of those are ways to describe the early Church.  Are we bold? Are we fearless?

Every time I read the story of Ananias and Sapphira, the same shock comes over me.  I love how blunt Peter is, “How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord?”  Why do we continually test the Spirit of the Lord?   Peter was bold, willing to risk rejection, fearless and daring.

The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade. No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people.
Acts 5:12-13

No one dared joined them… I think Christians need to put themselves in more situations that people would only dare to go to.  Why?  I know if I’m daring to go somewhere– I’m going to pray about.. a lot.  I think that when you put yourself in a situation, you have to turn to God.  You completely rely on Him.  Now imagine having to completely rely on Him during times when you go and share.  Most of the time, you have some type of physical comfort.  Sometimes this comfort could get in the way.

But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”
Acts 5:39

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP THESE MEN!  Wow. What an adamant statement. What a bold statement.  Why I highlighted it – is… sometimes the lost are more bold than we are. This is sad… As a fearless Christian, we should exclaim, “Our words are from God… You will not be able to stop us!”

overwhelm spiritual warfare pt. 2

Continuing from the last post.. Peter and John were freed out of the council’s confusion. What did they do next? They went back and gave the other Christ followers of what had happened. They all knew they were under attack… so as a group they just started to pray.

And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
Acts 4:29-30

I’m highlighting this verse because it really sticks out to me [especially after a conversation I had last night...]. I think this is a great lesson on prayer and how to pray. They specifically prayed for their enemy… and that God hears the enemy’s plans and for the followers to have rebuttals against these threats. The next verse is just as instructional. <Your healing power>. How often do we limit God’s healing power? Sure it happened a lot in the Bible, but I mean if you haven’t seen it… it’s hard to really believe it can happen just as much today as it did in 168 AD, etc. Peter healed the crippled man in the chapter before.. and what makes us different from Peter? NOTHING! We should be praying for God’s stretching hand to heal the land. Heal the enemy so that these threats turn into praises for the Savior.

These people were sooo into Jesus and God’s work. God was honoring them with every breath they took.

After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.
Acts 4:31

The followers trusted and put their faith IN God… and the place was shook. The way I see it is that even the earth itself cannot even contain God’s power. It just shook, and in the shaking… the Holy Spirit filled them with boldness.

God, I pray that the earth will just shake with your Truth.. your power.. your Being!

fling wide your heavenly gates, prepare the way of the Risen Lord. OPEN UP the doors, let the music play, let the streets resound with singing, songs that bring your hope. songs that bring your joy, dancers who dance upon injustice.
