Posting in retrospect:
This past weekend ended my semesters worth of work for one of my jobs. I ran the largest debate tournament in the State and successfully ended it on time!!
God is great! To him be the glory for this great/rewarding weekend.
The joyous time and wonderful celebratory moments ended though… probably one of my closest friends was put in the hardest spot this week. While housesitting/babysitting someone, his father passed away while away on a trip. She rushed into my room while I was sound asleep and left me speechless.
I can’t imagine to lose a father. So when talking to God that night, I asked him for something. anything… I needed to use this opportunity. Jehovah-Shalom. God is peace. I was reminded about a North Metro service on Shalom. It means peace… not just peace, but God’s peace. It’s a type of peace not imaginable to the human mind. It’s something we will experience one day in heaven. Jehovah-Shalom. Bring the peace of God to this family. to my friend. Peace of mind. Peace of heart. Jehovah-Shalom.
One last thing – the word Shalom is used in many common Jewish cultures as a hello and/or a goodbye. Why can’t we all wish God’s peace on people? We could learn some things from other cultures. Instead, we say such a worthless word “bye.”
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7
