jehovah shammah

the LORD is there.  It’s been a while [[during the break, i hope to share with you some times i had this semester in a form of backtracking posts]].  But i thought this name for God was soo appropriate. During the month hiatus from the blog, the Lord is/was there.  He was everywhere.  He showed up whether it was in line at Mcdonalds trying to win Monopoly, or on my way to work stuck in 120 traffic… He is there!

School, work, life, relationships all clouded a part of my vision from October to December, but one thing remained— God.  He is there!  He is there in my school. He is there in my work.  He is there in my life. He is there in my relationships. He is there.

In 1 Samuel, Hannah exclaims:

“There is no one holy like the LORD;  there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.”
1 Samuel 2:2

No one compares… No one can even match His work. He is there. Jeremy Camp [which I'm not a big fan of his] released a new CD this past month… I think in early December. One song, “You will be there” shows how dependable God was.

When I wake, you will be there.
When the sun goes down in the night, you wil be there.

So, why do I bring this up? Early December— finals came… I was not ready for one class. God was there. He provided. He was my rock.  Although I didn’t get the grade I desired, God is there in this whole thing.

jehovah shalom

Posting in retrospect:

This past weekend ended my semesters worth of work for one of my jobs.  I ran the largest debate tournament in the State and successfully ended it on time!! :)   God is great!  To him be the glory for this great/rewarding weekend.

The joyous time and wonderful celebratory moments ended though… probably one of my closest friends was put in the hardest spot this week. While housesitting/babysitting someone, his father passed away while away on a trip.  She rushed into my room while I was sound asleep and left me speechless.

I can’t imagine to lose a father.  So when talking to God that night, I asked him for something. anything…  I needed to use this opportunity. Jehovah-Shalom.  God is peace.  I was reminded about a North Metro service on Shalom.  It means peace… not just peace, but God’s peace.  It’s a type of peace not imaginable to the human mind.  It’s something we will experience one day in heaven.  Jehovah-Shalom.  Bring the peace of God to this family. to my friend.  Peace of mind. Peace of heart. Jehovah-Shalom.

One last thing – the word Shalom is used in many common Jewish cultures as a hello and/or a goodbye.  Why can’t we all wish God’s peace on people?  We could learn some things from other cultures.  Instead, we say such a worthless word “bye.”

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7

jehovah nissi

Listen to this song. Listen to when he says, “raising the dead in me,” “I am the second man now”.

jehovah nissi!!! the lord is my banner! I belong to him. I am his. Read Exodus 17:8-16.

Jon Foreman on “Twenty Four”

I wrote this song near the end of my 24th year on this planet. Wherever we run, wherever the sun finds us when he rises, we remain stuck with ourselves. That can be overwhelming. Sometimes I feel like my soul is polluted with politicians, each with a different point of view. With all 24 of them in disagreement, each voice is yelling to be heard. And so I am divided against myself. I feel that I am a hypocrite until I am one, when all of the yelling inside of me dies down. I’ve heard that the truth will set you free. That’s what I’m living for: freedom of spirit. I find unity and peace in none of the diversions that this world offers. But I’ve seen glimpses of truth and that’s where I want to run

jehovah

His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
Acts 17:27-28

Paul challenges not only the individual, but the individual of the city… that not only are you supposed to seek after God, but your nation is as well.

These two verses just speak volumes to me… this is how Paul described God to the polytheistic believers. IN HIM, we live, move and exist. For he is the SELF EXISTING ONE– JEHOVAH!
