pensacola review

Pena1Pensacola was the final stop on the tour.  While there, I watched Fayette County HS alum – Ashley Holcombe & the Bama Softball team make the WCWS Semifinals.  It was fun to see someone I knew – never really talked to her – but knew her.  I’ve talked to her borther but not really her.  Even better news was to see her lose to UF! Go GATORS!  They’re in the Championship.  I’ve never followed Softball until now – ha. I’m not a fan of colliegiate or professional women’s sports- the WNBA is by far the worst creation of all time.

We stayed in a hotel for one night in Pensacola and two or three nights with some of Craig’s friends.

The Paradise Inn was overpriced and not really worth it.  I was not that happy with the room, bed, or shower.  The whole Pensacola scene was not my cup of tea. Everyone seemed 30+.  I did see a girl that was in my Kindergarten class.  Haven’t seen her in like 3 years – she got a boob job I think. I tried yelling her name, but we were in a restaraunt and she didn’t hear me.

We hung out downtown on the Boardwalk several nights – never really had tons of fun – but we had fun nevertheless.  My official opinion on Pensacola – not worth it.  Biloxi, New Orleans, our 30 minutes in Mobile were all better than Pensacola.

If I ever end up back in Pensacola, I plan on going to a minor league baseball game and/or a professional women’s football game.  Yeah Yeah I know I said I don’t like women’s sports – but I think it’d be neat to watch.

NOLA1

Bourbon Street. 2nd Stop on the tour.  Craig had never been to NOLA or even the state for that matter. He wasn’t impressed – go figure.  It is the toilet bowl of the USA.  It’s pretty sad to walk around and see what Katrina has left.  I honestly don’t understand the point of the city – let’s build something completely under sea level and make it a huge epicenter of sin.

NOLA2

The worst casino we went to all week. Harrah’s New Orleans.  It treated me decently, but it just seemed trashy.  It seemed as if it was the only “decent” thing in the city. However as the only “decent” thing in the city, homeless flock to the casino. The service was mediocre and the dealers were decent.  My roulette dealer was complaining the whole time about how she isn’t paid enough.

Our only night in New Orleans, we spent on Bourbon for Craig.  We both enjoyed it – but since it was a Wednesday night, the crowds were not out – which I enjoyed.   I’ve been to Bourbon before on a crowded Saturday night (in 2004) – someone was killed right in front of me.

NOLA3

This was our Hotel – the Holiday Inn Cheteau LaMoyne.  It was okay. It was what you expect from a hotel really close to Bourbon Street.  BUT, someone famous was staying there – massive security. The security dude was a jerk when I asked him who it was.  I said, well can you give me a clue? A celebrity? And he pretended as if he didn’t understand and said rudely, “A sorrority?” I should have said. YEAH, IS PHI MU HERE?

Jerk.

biloxi review

The first place on the tour was Biloxi, MS.  We stayed at the Beau Rivage Casino & Resort.  We only took advantage of the first part, not the second part.

Biloxi1

I spent way to much money there – but just not there – everywhere. Here are my grades of the Biloxi Casinos:

  1. Hard Rock – A: Best casino in Harrison County.  The environment made this the best hotel in the entire plot of land. Anthony, my Blackjack dealer, was hilarious and a great entertainer.  HR took the most of my money. The Service was best here.
  2. Beau Rivage – A-: Great casino, service okay, gambling minimums were way too high though. There is no need to have $10 minimum’s in the morning.  I’d stay there again, but probably not gamble much in the future.
  3. Grand Biloxi – A-: Pretty good hotel. Lots of variety – they were pretty nice. Gave free money. My card took money though-  weird. Decent Service.
  4. Harrah’s Grand Casino: B+: Good service, but not great dealers. They weren’t entertaining and simply didn’t keep my interest.
  5. Boomtown: B : One of my favorite places – but it’s white trash-ville.  Honestly… I don’t think I would ever stay there, or spend much time.  The minimums were extremely low, the food was decent, and it was a great casino to go to when not having a lot of money left.
  6. IP Casino & Resort: C – : Quite boring. Not memorable. Bad Service.
  7. Isle of Capri – D- : This was by far the worst casino in Biloxi.  The food wasn’t that great. The gambling was horrible.  The dealers were rude.

My favorite place of the week.  The Buffet at the Hard Rock.  So much variety – so good.  Although, I would not reccomend two things: the Shrimp or the Asian food. The shrimp had their heads on.. and it was scary.  The Asian food was missing a flavor.
